I was excited to read a recent blog on collider.com which higlighted the future of James Bond films. Based on the article published by Bloomberg the plan is to release a new James Bond film every second year starting in November 2012. Yes, it appears that Bond 23 is going to happen.
Some of you may know that MGM filed bankruptcy in an effort to retain ownership of its some 4000 films and titles, as well as licenses to the highly anticipated Hobbit. This positioned them to avoid a hostile takeover. MGM will own 50 percent of new Bond 23 film which currently doesn’t have a title. I’m pushing for ‘The Return of 007’. The plan is that future Bond movies would be wholly owned and funded by MGM.
For Bond fans like me, this is great news. And if you happen to be a Daniel Criag fan or a fan of Director Sam Mendes then smile rumor has it they are both involved in Bond 23. I’m not the type who usually cares about any thing in Hollywood. But for what it’s worth Bond and John Wayne films always caught my attention as a child.
Some things in life are fun to hold onto…Bond films take me back to the nine members of the Cloonan clan piled in the old country squire sucking down popcorn and candy at the drive-in. James Bond was bigger then life on that plywood screen and still is in my eyes. Silly…for sure. Fun…for sure.
Daniel don’t let us down … you have a lot more then a contract or paycheck at stake on this one. It’s ironic that not even James Bond can avoid the evils of today’s economy. Funny enough I wrote a blog about this two years ago “We Need Bond…James Bond“.
