I’ve always adored this photo. Vintage vespa 1945/46. Vintage romance. The couple in the photo look as though they are lost in all that is good about their day. And you have to believe that the 1945 vespa they are riding has a little to do with it…of course so does cruising the streets of a newly liberated Italy. Out of the mayhem of a brutal World War arouse one of the most beloved and innovative designs of modern time. Thanks to the bold vision of Enrico Piaggio and the designers at Piaggio the transformation of the scooter – behold The Vespa.
Piaggio has revealed their new vision of the Vespa – the Quarantasei (named for the number 46)
The Skinny on the Wasp (wasp means vespa in Italian)
The Quarantasei concept Vespa has built a reputation for classic, retro-styled scooters, trading on its iconic styling. at EICMA however is a look toward ahead, and possibly the most futuristic looking Vespa ever.
Designed by the Vespa Pontedera Style Center, the Quarantasei maintains classic Vespa lines established from the original 1945 MP6 prototype, the “Wasp” that became forefather of all Vespas.
